Path to Insure

Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 12, 2026 Effective date: July 12, 2026

This is a compliance template pending attorney review. It is written to cover the required-content checklist for this document type in genuine, plain-language detail, but it is not final legal text and has not yet been reviewed or approved by a licensed attorney. See docs/deliverables/A13-legal.md for the full compliance package and review status. Do not rely on this page as binding legal advice.

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar tracking technologies Path to Insure uses, why we use them, and the choices you have. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle the data those technologies collect.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include pixels, local storage, and SDKs used by mobile browsers. We use the word “cookies” in this policy to cover all of these.

2. Categories of cookies we use

  • Strictly necessary. Required for the site to function — session management, security, and load balancing. These cannot be disabled without breaking core site functionality.
  • Analytics. Help us understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, time on page, navigation paths) so we can improve content and tools.
  • Advertising. Set by our ad network (for example, Google AdSense or a comparable contextual ad network) to serve and measure display ads, and in some cases to personalize ads based on browsing behavior.
  • Affiliate-tracking. Attribute a click on a partner link back to Path to Insure so the partner can credit the referral, using a click identifier attached to the outbound link.
  • Functional. Remember preferences, such as a saved comparison or a dismissed non-essential notice.

3. Third parties that may set cookies

Our analytics provider, our advertising network, and our affiliate-tracking infrastructure may each set their own cookies when you visit the site. The specific named vendors are finalized as part of our technology build-out and will be listed here and kept current as that vendor selection is confirmed. [Named third-party vendor list — pending final tooling selection].

4. Your choices

Cookie consent banner

On your first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising). Strictly necessary cookies always run, since the site cannot function without them. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie preferences link in the site footer.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information / Global Privacy Control

California and other state privacy laws give you the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We honor a valid Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an opt-out request, and you can also opt out using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer.

Browser controls

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking all cookies may affect site functionality, including saved comparisons and some personalization features.

5. Where your data goes from here

For how the information collected through cookies is used, shared, and retained, see our Privacy Policy. This Cookie Policy covers the tracking mechanism itself; the Privacy Policy covers what happens to the data.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our technology stack or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
